Peterson's Local Ski Resorts
Where Should We Ski Today?
Skiing in the Poconos is only a hop, skip, and short car ride away. From our location most of the ski areas are only a 5-20 minute car ride away. The only exception would be Elk Mountain which is an hour ride..... but well worth the trip!... If snowboarding is your thing, make sure you check out Big Boulder. Boulder Park is renowned for it's terrain park. In 2009 Boulder Park, was ranked 5th on the East Coast...Escape from the crowds at Jack Frost. Even on the busiest weekends, lift lines tend to be minimal. Waiting 5 minutes or more is highly unusual (especially on the East Mt. Chairlift).... The high speed quads at Camelback and Blue Mountain will zip you up to the top in under 3 minutes. Needless to say, by lunch your legs will be looking for some rest and relaxation, especially after skiing Challenge, Razor's Edge, or Cliffhanger..... Shawnee Mountain is great for those coming from New York City and New Jersey. This area appeals to the beginner skiers and is just over the border from New Jersey... All of the resorts have their share of beginner and expert terrain, although in my opinion, Elk Mountain is the area that has that 'Vermont' feel. Be sure to check out the 'Indians' while skiing Elk, or challenge the bumps on Tunkhannock..... Montage Mountain will challenge you with Boomer and White Lightning...
